How do I get my CUNTZ® dream guitar?
I am lucky to be a little “rare” – the most popular models are rarely ready to be tested.
Available special models / exhibition guitars are listed in our online shop. These can be played and / or activated on request.
CUNTZ Guitars® are available in limited numbers in Europe’s largest music store, among others.

Others would like to put their dream guitar together and have it built – with me including any advice! Be it the way of playing, sound ideas, woods, neck widths, haptics, pickup configuration or all kinds of optical wishes and ideas.
According to your wishes in coordination with my many years of experience.
Whether by personal visit, telephone, email, video chat – the patience a guitar maker needs in production also applies to advice: Sometimes a single plane line is enough for a perfect joint, sometimes the wood has to be meticulously worked on perfect result is created.
And that’s the way it is here too: sometimes a short phone call or two emails are enough, but sometimes it is a little more detailed
- the customer is sure that they are looking forward to ordering the right thing for themselves
- I am sure that I can make the customer happy with the order.
When all details have been discussed / described, I create a detailed “binding order” which, after mutual examination and signature, represents the order.
From a binding order, I charge a deposit of 20% of the estimated total price. This cannot be canceled.
The deposit determines the price and the expected delivery time, secures its place in the waiting / order list and covers part of the material / wood / preparation and planning costs for the expected delivery date. Should anything change on your part in the delivery time / payment planning, speak to me – we will find a way. In general, down payments are non-refundable and production costs incurred will be invoiced at the latest upon completion.
Remaining amounts to the full order total are due upon completion, upon collection, before dispatch.

“Active” or “passive” pickup systems?
The general opinion is that active pickup systems simply have more “power” – this is not generally wrong, but the real difference in practice is another … (apart from some systems, which generally already have a power supply for the sensor -Element need)
Even if the Schatten Design pickups sound very natural and have microphonic properties, they are based on a piezo signal. As is usual with piezo elements, this signal is very high-ohmic.
The actual pickup can be operated “passively” (PLAYER series) via an acoustic amplifier with a piezo or “high” input provided for this purpose. This eliminates the need for a battery in the instrument and associated cables other than the thin pickup cable. Another prerequisite for the best sound results with passive pickups is a cable run of less than 6m, as longer cable runs can show losses.
“Active” pickup systems (“Active” or “Artist” series) are provided with a small preamplifier at the end socket. This preamplifier amplifies the signal, but primarily it converts the impedance of the piezo signal into a low-ohmic signal. This signal shows far fewer losses with long cable runs and can be connected to “low” inputs (mixer / P.A. / transmitter systems / other amplifiers).
A battery (9V block) does not necessarily have to be stowed in the instrument with the Schatten Design ARTIST preamps – these preamps are “multi-power” capable and can also be supplied from the outside via battery pack or phantom power.
Alternatively, a passive pickup system outside the instrument can be amplified with the Schatten Design MiniPre or a preamp / DI box and the impedance can be converted to “generally compatible”.
The correct selection of the pickup system therefore depends on which end devices the pickup is connected to and whether a battery inside the instrument should be avoided.
